Seems like whenever Matthew and I stay anywhere that is not our home we are provided with 3 drawers for our clothes. Seems to Matthew that I always get the top 2.
When I saw this bureau at the South Amherst Trading Post I immediately thought of the A-Frame; it would provide drawer equality, it's simple and symmetrical and not too big and big enough. I didn't buy it when I saw it, but it nagged at me and I woke up regretful, so I called the next day and found out that it was only $45.
Sadly, the THEN picture doesn't capture the terrible noncolor color it was - some awful neutral beige that I can't believe an actual human being actually chose at some point. Also sadly, the NOW picture doesn't capture how different the gray I chose is from the original color, so you're probably thinking, "Big whoop." You'll have to take my word for it.
Anyway, sometimes decorating ideas and solutions will plop into my head like they have been divinely placed there. The stripes and the MINE and YOURS came to me like that. Thanks God.
Total Cost: $45 for bureau, $16 for paint, $8 for spray shellac = $69
In the slide show below you can see the painting process and the stencilling mess.
